About me
Hey, I’m Rach.
I am a first generation queer, Nigerian femme originally from the UK but spent my formative years in Tennessee. I am currently based in Portland, Oregon.
I am a graduate of Portland State University with a focus in clinical mental health. I have a background in politics and corporate DEI work that led me to the field of counseling because I believe change happens within people–not systems. I hold a firm belief in the power of community and healing with others. I believe when working with those closest to the pain, they should have adequate resources to care and support.
I enjoy working with clients who identify as Black, first generation, immigrants, queer, non-Black people of color and non-binary and/or trans. I work with individuals, Non traditional relationships such as: friends and chosen family units.
I come to sessions with a sense of curiosity, warmth and transparency. I engage personally and professionally in ongoing trainings in a modality known as Contemporary Gestalt. I also use modalities like Somatics and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) as guide rails, but most importantly, I follow your lead. I'll create a space where you feel both challenged and supported as you explore your own patterns and growth. While we may focus on individual work, I also seek to understand the broader ecosystems you move through, because seeing you as a whole person includes your relationships.

Unfortunately, I am a runner, so most of my time is spent running around Portland and signing up for races to collect shiny new medals to boost my self esteem :) In my real life, I love hosting and cooking for my friends and loved ones. I think the best memories are made over a shared meal and full bellies. In my downtime, you’ll see watching reality shows (Bravo all day) and scratching my dog’s belly.

How I Work
I’m not a ‘blank slate’ therapist; I tend to be direct, curious, and deeply attuned
I work best by meeting you where you are, and to understand what’s present for you now, rather than needing to download every detail and memory from your past. I trust that what’s important, and what’s stuck will surface between us. My approach is relational, meaning I’ll share how you impact me and how that might reflect patterns in your other relationships, allowing you to practice and fine-tune interpersonal interactions. I’m not a ‘blank slate’ therapist; I tend to be direct, curious, and deeply attuned to where you’re at. My goal is to help you deepen awareness of your choices and patterns, all while staying grounded in care for your experience.
I’m also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a therapeutic approach I find particularly helpful for individuals who feel “stuck” in unhelpful patterns. EMDR can help process and release old narratives or emotional blockages that may be hindering personal growth. It has also been effective in addressing PTSD and generational trauma. However, it’s important to note that EMDR is not suited for addressing systemic or environmental oppression, as those issues require different forms of intervention.
