About me

My name is Quinn and I may be a good fit for you if you’re looking for a therapist who is warm but honest, and will gently push you to stay in the driver’s seat of your therapeutic journey.

A variety of theoretical frameworks inform my practice, with an emphasis on Gestalt therapy, existential approaches, and child-centered play therapy. Additionally, I’m trained in the use of Minecraft as a virtual play therapy space in my work with young people. I feel passionate about the potential for meaningful connection and growth through gaming mindfully, and I’m particularly interested in the ways that this can better support the needs and engagement of neurodivergent kiddos in the counseling world.

I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from Portland State University, but I wore many professional hats before becoming a counselor. That journey took me many places, including technical theater, early childhood education, and the construction trades. Over time I began to notice that wherever I went, my curiosity and enjoyment were sparked by collaboration, creativity, and connecting with the people around me. This eventually led me to the field of counseling.

My Favorite Places to Cry…

IRL

I find joy and meaning in getting out into nature, making up little songs about my cat, and spending time with my little corner of queer and trans community. You can often find me nerding out over Dungeons and Dragons, whichever video game I’m currently obsessed with, or a new crafting project – whatever can bring a little more play into my own daily life.

How I Work

humans are striving for wholeness and are capable of great change

I believe that all humans are striving for wholeness and are capable of great change. We’re all doing our best with what we have to adapt to our circumstances, and sometimes those adaptations stop serving us as well as they could. Through self-compassionate awareness of these patterns comes more choice, and choicefulness opens up the possibility for change.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults, both individually and as families to identify what’s not working well in your life, curiously examine the needs underlying these patterns, and explore new ways of navigating life’s challenges that are authentic and in alignment with your values. My priority is collaborating with my clients to find the approach that fits each person, acknowledging and honoring your unique life path, cultural experiences, and social contexts. Discussion of oppression and marginalization are welcomed and encouraged, including the ways our shared or differing identities may affect our therapeutic relationship.
