About me

Hey there! My name is Corrine and I am a Professional Counselor Associate and Clinical Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) registered in the state of Oregon. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). We all look for empathy, understanding, and connection in our lives and relationships. When moving through the world with a non-dominant identity, it can be difficult to find acceptance, confidence and a sense of belonging. As a biracial Chamoru woman, I have been navigating these struggles throughout my life. I hope to work with others who are looking to cultivate relationships with their core identities, while navigating the challenges related to systems of oppression. My clients often identify as people of color, LGBTQ+, disabled, and/or chronically ill, as well as part of nerd, geek or techie communities.

My educational background actually began in the tech world with an undergraduate degree in Digital Technology and Culture. Though I still love aspects of website design and development, and harbor a side passion for digital accessibility, I found myself drawn to a helping career in counseling. After deciding to take a hard pivot career shift, I went back to school and graduated from Portland State University with a masters degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling.

I believe acknowledging our identities (the core parts that make you, you!) is important to the counseling relationship. My core identities include being a biracial Chamoru woman of color, a cozy games enthusiast, and a lover of animated shows/movies.

My Favorite Places to Cry…

☹ Tucked inside a closet

❀ In the car while thinking about random, totally false scenarios

✌︎ On the couch in a blanket pile, probably watching animated content meant for children

I believe that healing begins with feeling that you are being genuinely heard and cared for.

How I Work

My counseling approach focuses on person-centered and trauma-informed care through a social justice lens. I follow the 10 principles of disability justice and integrate themes of wholeness, anti-capitalism, intersectionality, collectivism, and advocacy in my practice. My theoretical orientation draws from existential-humanistic and relational cultural therapies. This means I am interested in exploring how your perspectives, identities, and relationships influence your experience and what you’re bringing to the counseling room.

I work best with clients who are looking to build a warm, trusting, and collaborative counseling relationship. Relationships can be powerful and I believe that healing begins with feeling that you are being genuinely heard and cared for.

I am supervised by Sofia Jasani, MS, LPC, NCC.
